WORSHIP & COMMUNITY
We would love to have you come visit us, and we'd love to get to know you and your family! At First Church, we believe in the "mission God". Certainly God gathers the church for worship, care and discipleship. But that is not all.
The God who "so loves the world" also sends us out into the world to share in what God is doing. Out there. And as we share God's love with one person, or many, we meet Jesus who has already been there, waiting for us.
Here are some of the ways to share in the worship, life and mission @First:
Open Communion
Communion is held about 9-10 times a year. Everyone is welcome. Contact the office for details.
Children's Ministries
An infant/toddler nursery is available, as well as Children In Worship from 10:30-11:30am Sundays. Contact Deb Derrenbacher about monthly activities for jKids (3rd-8th grade).
Sunday School - Adult
A variety of classes are held on Sunday mornings at 9:30am between September and June. These classes may delve into a particular book of the Bible for intensive study, read and discuss a popular Christian book, or explore faith implications of current events and issues facing our nation and world. Contact the office for current offerings.
Special Adult Studies/Classes
A few times a year, Dr. Glenn Hink leads an in-depth study in the style of a college seminar related to a topic or issue of interest to today's modern Christian, working out our Christianity at the Corner of Faith and Life. Informative, challenging, thought-provoking.
Come to learn, grow, find healing, and seek the Answers with us!
Details are available on our Facebook page or from the church office.
Sanctuary Choir & Bell Choir
Few things can lift our spirits and bring us to those "thin places" near our God like music. At First Church, we welcome you to find a place in expressing your joy in worship through song or sharing your instrumental gifts. We also maintain a very impressive carillon bell choir, and welcome new members! Contact Stephen Barr to join in!
The Arts@First
First Presbyterian Church has a long tradition of supporting the arts in the Shenango Valley. We host a number of Shenango Valley Choral concerts each year, and will be hosting a few dramatic productions in on the stage of our recently renovated Fellowship hall in 2016.
Contact the office or see our Facebook page for details!
Boar's Head Festival
Each January, annually, we host a reinactment of a medieval celebration filled with pageantry, fun, and great music. The Boar's Head Festival is a tradition dating from the 1600s in England. Come enjoy the festivities of the Christmas Season and celebrate the birth of the King of Kings! See our Facebook page for details.
